Alexander Dumbreck was born Linlithgow 11th March 1815 and married Elizabeth Copeland on the 18th March 1838 in Linlithgow.

They had 4 children, Alex 1839; John Copeland 1843; William 1846 and James Copeland 1857.

Both John and James continued the family lines in America. It is thought that both Alex and William stayed in Scotland and at this time (Dec 2000) the records of their deaths have not been located.

James Copeland Dumbreck continued the family name.
