John Dumbreck born Edinburgh 30th October 1823 joined H.M. Customs.  He died 16th September 1905. John married in 1854 to Elizabeth Jane Craig of Dumfries and had four sons, Charles (died in infancy), James Craig, John and William and five daughters, Mary, Elizabeth, Anne, Emily Maud and Christina.

William Dumbreck 1866 continues the family name.
