James Craig Dumbreck, was born 6th March 1891.
He married Mary Gertrude Stringer in
May 1920. Mary was born on the 7th April 1885 at West Derby, Liverpool, the
daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth Amelia Stringer (ms Morris).
James worked for the Eastern Telegraph Company, an
international cable and telegraph company (which later became Cable and Wireless),
as an operator and later as branch manager in Hull, Glasgow and Manchester.
He
retired to Southport in 1945 and set up a sheet metal business, from which he
retired at the age of 79. He enjoyed cricket and was also a member of
Lodge Kingston upon Hull (Lodge 57) and also in Glasgow. He was an
enthusiastic traveler throughout Britain.
Gertrude died
in October 1967 in Southport and James died at the end of February 1976 also at
Marshside in Southport.
