James Dumbreck was born in the USA in 1852, however he was a British Subject. In 1874 he married Barbara Simpson from South Ronaldsay, Orkney. They had 3 children. In 1881 they lived at 243 High Street, Linlithgow, and was a shoemaker by trade.
